Is your family in desperate need of more living or working space? Perhaps you need a permanent, dedicated office for working from home. Or maybe it’s time your children had a bedroom of their own. Even if you feel cramped in your current house, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to move somewhere bigger. In many cases, this idea is a non-starter. If you’re happy where you are but want to increase your property’s square footage, our loft conversions make the perfect solution.
Based in Guildford, JN Builders converts lofts in Godalming, Farnham and all surrounding areas of Surrey. We have direct access to all key service locations in the region, including Cranleigh, Woking and the neighbouring towns and villages in the Surrey Hills.
When did you last go up into your loft? Much like garages, these spaces have become a dumping ground for all manner of household items and junk, be it old toys, Christmas decorations or photos. If you’re struggling for space elsewhere in your house, our builders can convert your loft into a new room tailored to your specific requirements.
During the conversion process, we optimise a structure that already exists. Unlike property extensions, we don’t need to build an addition from the foundations up. As such, loft conversions have a quicker turnaround time and less disruption. What’s more, because we ‘convert up’ rather than ‘build out’, your new habitable space doesn’t require a sacrifice in garden size.
And the benefits don’t stop there. The investment you make in your conversion stays locked up in your home. What’s more, when completed by skilled builders like those in our company, your conversion could also raise your property’s resale value by as much as 25%.In addition, when you move, you don’t only take on the cost and responsibility of a larger mortgage, you also ‘lose’ a significant amount of money on stamp duty, where applicable, removal company costs and packing supplies.
By following the ‘improve, don’t move’ concept, you can stay in your current part of Farnham, Guildford, Godalming or the wider Surrey area. This means you avoid the upheaval of leaving a much-loved family home, neighbourhood and community. In most cases, you can also stay closer to friends and family.
If you have children, or plan to one day, converting your loft may make all the difference between staying in or leaving the catchment zone of a desirable school.
When you choose JN Builders for your loft conversion, your service includes:
JN Builders excels in the 4 main loft conversion styles, so there’s no project we can’t deliver. However, the type of house you own will influence what conversions you can choose.
These conversions take place within the structure of your current loft, making them the simplest and most affordable. We install rooflights into your roof’s existing pitch, creating a bright, vibrant environment. After carrying out electrical and plumbing work, reinforcing the floors and adding insulation, we create new living space with a fast turnaround.
Our team constructs a box-like extension, integrating it into the back slope of your roof. The new room has vertical walls, a horizontal ceiling and ample floorspace. For the structural addition itself, you can choose between gabled and flat-roofed dormers.
These loft conversions only apply to end-of-terrace, detached and semi-detached houses with one or more hipped roofs. During the conversion, we remove the slope at the side of your roof before extending the exterior wall up. Our builders then restructure your roof to reach out and meet the wall at a right angle, creating a gable. This produces an impressive amount of floorspace and headroom.
When undertaking these conversions in Farnham, Guildford, Godalming and across Surrey, our company extends your current roofing structure backward. This results in a new flat roof with a raised rear wall. The latter has the mansard’s most distinctive feature: an inward slope at an angle of 72 degrees.
